We only have just over a week before we can officially call a house our home. The house (oops did I write house…I meant apartment!) is nearly completely packed up and now we’re just waiting! CAN’T WAIT!
Here are some pictures from our visit with Michelle. I didn’t take as many pictures this time, opting instead of just enjoy our time together. These pictures were taken while in Nyon, Switzerland and the rainbow picture is from our apartment window.
Although it might appear that I’ve posted twice in one day, really the previous post was done last night but not published until today. Anyways, I intended to post this video today.
Only a couple more weeks until we move into our new place (in case it’s unclear, we’re not buying a house, just renting). We’re all very excited about it, including Jude. We’ve been packing and showing the apartment to potential renters. I’m not sure this place has ever looked so sparkly and clean.
The current plan is that we’ll be getting the keys a week before September 1st so we can start moving some of our boxes into the garage. Then on the 31st of August we’ll officially move in. Honestly it feels like forever away, but I know that really it’ll be here very soon.
In the time between now and moving in, we have a few other important events to occur. This upcoming Monday, Carys will be starting at the same Garderie that Jude was going to. I think that she’ll really enjoy it there. At least I hope so. She seems much more independent and I’m doubting that she’ll have much, if any, separation anxiety. I just hope that they’re ready for a fully fledged member of the Thoiry climbing club.
In the last couple of days, she’s discovered how upwardly mobile she really is. It’s really amazing watching her as she climbs over new things because her eyes tell the world exactly what she’s thinking, and the pride she shows is unmistakable when she accomplishes her feat.
Another major milestone is Jude starting at the école maternelle (nursery school) on August 31. Jude has been looking forward to this for a few months now, and has been a major motivator for potty training (which I’m proud to say, he’s on his 5th week pull-up free! YAY). The school is on campus at CERN and so Dan will be taking him in the morning and picking him up for lunch every day (or so is the plan).
WOW, taking three weeks off from writing on the blog has made my mind go all dust
This week we went to the reptile zoo in Meyrin. It was pretty awesome, but not easy to take pictures in. There is one shot of Jude watching a snake move around. The other shots are from around the house, and washing the car.
I‘d like to begin by apologizing for not posting anything on the blog for a very, … very long time. I feel kinda lazy about it at the moment. Perhaps because I’ve got a new toy that I’m romancing right now. That new toy happens to be my replacement for the sorry excuse for a [...]
This morning was a sad one in our house. Dan’s sister, Michelle, left for home after a very fast two week visit. We had loads of fun visiting lots of places including Geneva, Bern, Annecy, and around our village. Phew, it’s been too long since I last blogged. I feel kinda rusty at it. Anyways, [...]
I’m not sure if I’ll jinx this and make things worse, I’m hoping for my sanity’s sake that superstition is just an illusion at this moment. Yesterday, Dan realized that one of the hard drives that hosts my blog among other important things (like photos etc) had started to fail. Fortunately he’s been able to [...]
So it’s official. Dan was successful at his most recent job interview and was offered a Staff position at CERN. This means that we’re going to stay here in France for another 2.5 years! We’re all super excited about getting to stay now that we’ve become accustomed to the lifestyle here. As a result of [...]
